RELOADING IMAGES Damascus

Is a collaborative project where 10 artists from Syria and 10 artists from abroad are discussing, exploring and developing ways of artistic practice and collaboration, based on an interactive exchange of experiences, ideas, know-how and tools of production and self-organisation.

RELOADING IMAGES Damascus is a 10-month long project: from March 2008 onwards, the participants work collectively on the form and content of the project. In October 2008 they come together for a 3 week workshop in Damascus. In December 2008, the results of the project are published in printed form.

The smell of my dad’s farm that is full of orange trees, my dad’s words about his adoration of his trees ..

Those trees that occupied the dreams and ambitions of my dad and which I have been hearing about since my early childhood, dad’s desire to care, secure, and grow these oranges till they fill his life with charm and happiness. He was always looking forward to the day when he retires just because he wants to settle down in his farm and be surrounded forever with his oranges. These oranges will definitely be his world by then.

On Friday 12th September 2008, we opened our MA exhibition with a special private view to our guests, friends and family. Those people who joined us to celebrate our final work for the MA course and to provide us with their support which didn’t stop for a minute during the process of the course.

I would like to thank my family for everything, Anas who was always next to me during my worst and happiest times and who believed in me in the first place. Thanks Judit, my best friend, who never stopped being a sister of me since I met her.
